This page contains the installs for the StudioTax versions
of previous years. For the current year, version 2007, visit
the download page.
We provide download for tax years 2004,
2005 and 2006. We do not
have any version that support tax years prior to 2004.
StudioTax
2006 (CRA Print and Netfile Certified)
StudioTax
is built on Microsoft .Net framework. You may need to download
the .Net framework library 1.1 before you can install StudioTax.
If you already have .Net 2.0, then you still need .Net 1.1.
See the note at the bottom of this page
for more details.
Follow
the following steps to download and install StudioTax 2006:

Try
to run the install by double-clicking on the StudioTaxInstall.msi
file that you downloaded and saved in step 1.

If
the install fails because .Net framework is not installed,
then download and install Microsoft .Net framework. Click
on Microsoft
.Net Framework 1.1 to go to Microsoft download site.
Even if you have .Net 2.0, you still need to install .Net
1.1(check here for more details).

Please
note that some users reported installation problem even
when they had .Net 1.1 installed. Some of these problems
were resolved after installing .Net
1.1 SP1 that can be downloaded from here.

If
the install fail with error code 2755, then check the FAQ
note for a solution to this issue.

Once
StudioTax is installed, you can create your income tax return
and print it. Refer to the help tab for quick overview on
how to go about creating your first return.

Make
sure to check for updates on a regular basis and before
you file your return in order to download any updates we
make to the software.
StudioTax 2005 (CRA
Print and Netfile Certified)
StudioTax
is built on Microsoft .Net framework library. You may need to
download the .Net framework library 1.1 before you can install
StudioTax.
Follow
the following steps to download and install StudioTax 2005:

Download StudioTaxInstall.zip(3.2
MB), un-zip it and save StudioTaxInstall.msi to a temporary
folder. Or you can just download the msi file StudioTaxInstall.msi(3.5
MB) and save it to a temporary folder.

Try
to run the install by double-clicking on the StudioTaxInstall.msi
file that you saved in step 1.

If
the install fails because .Net framework is not installed,
then download and install Microsoft .Net framework. Click
on Microsoft
.Net Framework 1.1 to go to Microsoft download site.

Once
StudioTax is installed, you can create your income tax return
and print it. Refer to the help tab for quick overview on
how to go about creating your first return.
StudioTax 2004 (CRA
Print approved)
StudioTax
2004 can be installed by downloading StudioTaxInstall.zip(2.4
MB) or StudioTaxInstall.msi(2.7
MB) and running the install.
Note that StudioTax 2004 printed forms are
approved by CRA. You can print and mail your return.
System requirements
Since
this software is build on the .Net 1.1 framework, the system
requirements of the .Net framework apply to StudioTax. In plain
English: If your computer is half-decent, you should not have
any problem running this software.

Why
.Net framework 1.1 and not 2.0
.Net
framework 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 are different products. Software build
with one version does not work with the other versions. You can
install all three versions at the same time and they will not
interfere with each other. StudioTax is build with .Net 1.1.
We
are not releasing StudioTax on .Net 2.0 to minimize the odds that
our users would need to download and install another component.
By now most computers have already .Net 1.1 installed by either
another application or, in the case of Windows XP, by SP2.
